Starlines

Starlines I and Starlines II are advanced residential programs at the Monroe Institute that take participants beyond the human-centered territory of Focus 27 into what the Institute calls the energy systems of Focus 34/35 and beyond. Nancy McMoneagle of the Institute said in an interview posted in 2016 that senior trainer Franceen King designed the program and that you have to complete a couple of other programs first. Institute researcher Skip Atwater was already studying participants' written reports from it by 2006.

The Institute's page for Starlines I describes a multi-dimensional journey through deep space. The Institute's audio technology is blended with cosmic sounds recorded by space probes, with images from space telescopes supporting the journey. Participants travel through the solar system, familiarize themselves with the consciousness of each planet, explore the Stargate of the Galactic Core and the Infinite Sea of what Monroe called the I-There Clusters, and begin a role the page calls galactic ambassador. Starlines II, which lists Starlines I as a prerequisite, enters the ultra deep Focus 49 and works on the energetic pathway between Earth's core and the galactic core.

The Institute's researcher cautioned against reading it simply as a search for visitors. Atwater told a 2006 audience that people who think Starlines is all about contacting extraterrestrials are missing the point: it uses inner space to explore outer space, and outer space to explore inner space, and then he remarked that the two come to the same thing. An Institute representative said on a radio show posted in 2013 that communication in the program is extremely hard to decipher because the concepts are so different from ours.

Advanced Monroe Institute programs that take participants beyond Focus 27 to Focus 34/35 and 49 and explore contact with life beyond Earth.

Key points

Designed by senior trainer Franceen King

Nancy McMoneagle, speaking in an interview posted in 2016, says Franceen King, one of the Institute's senior trainers for many years, designed Starlines, and that it takes participants into Focus states far beyond Earth life. Bruce Moen, who attended, says King put the program together and calls it excellent; he describes her leading the session he attended. King is also named among the trainers on the Institute's current Starlines pages. McMoneagle adds that you must have completed a couple of other programs before you can take it.

Starlines I: outward through the solar system

The Institute describes Starlines I as a multi-dimensional journey through deep space. Participants travel through the solar system and familiarize themselves with the consciousness of each planet, explore energy systems within Focus 34/35 and beyond, and experience parallels between outer space and inner space. An Institute representative described the same arc on a radio show posted in 2013: first the planets and any beings there, then the local bubble, and onward into other galaxies, seeing what kind of communication can come.

The galactic ambassador role

The Starlines I page invites participants to begin a new role it calls galactic ambassador, and the Institute representative on Paranormal Review Radio described the program as one specifically for becoming a galactic ambassador. The page ties the role to contact with higher intelligence and inner guidance, to discovering your relationship with other life forms, and to bringing back patterns that help humanity and all Earth life attune to life-affirming futures. It also speaks of awakening past and future memories linked to distant energy systems.

I-There Clusters and the Stargate of the Galactic Core

Two phrases show where Starlines leaves the beginner map. The Starlines I page speaks of the Infinite Sea of what Monroe called the I-There Clusters, an idea from his later books about bonded groups of larger selves, and invites participants to reclaim, remember and integrate parts of Self. It also names a consciousness portal, the Stargate of the Galactic Core. That Stargate is a concept within the program and should not be confused with the U.S. Army's Project Stargate remote-viewing unit.

Starlines II: Focus 49 and the galactic core

The Starlines II page places the program at the convergence of science, technology and consciousness and calls it a blend of physics and metaphysics. It invites participants to enter the ultra deep Focus 49, strengthen the energetic pathway between Earth's core and the galactic core, and explore forms of dimensional shifting. It notes that many prophecies about our time refer to unique alignments between Earth and the galactic core, and adds themes of serving humanity, Earth and the Total Self, the wisdom paths of ancient civilizations, and the idea that as energy supplants form, the inner and the outer become one.

Where Focus 42 fits

The Institute's current pages name Focus 34/35 for Starlines I and Focus 49 for Starlines II. Focus 42 comes from Daniel Erickson's commented booklet on the channeled Miranon material, a framework that groups the levels in sevens and treats every seventh level, including F35, F42 and F49, as a white transition level. The booklet calls F42 a meeting place for channeled entities and I-There cluster consciousness, F49 the level where a complete energy body spanning the other levels is realized, and says the levels above F28 are explored in Starlines. The 2012 Monroe Institute web overview adds only that other Focus levels are explored in the Starline programs.

Not mainly about contacting extraterrestrials

Skip Atwater told the Institute's 2006 Professional Seminar that some people think Starlines is all about contacting ET, but it is about using inner space to explore outer space, then flipped it and said outer space to explore inner space. He also noted that people arrive with predisposed motivations, just as Gateway Voyage participants arrive wanting to get out of their bodies and find the program is about something else. The Starlines I page frames the same idea, promising parallels between outer space and inner space explorations.

What participants describe

The sources hold a few concrete stories. The Institute representative on Paranormal Review Radio recalled a participant who returned with mathematical information he said he had downloaded from a being; he did not understand it, but another participant found it of great interest. Moen describes an evening on the roof deck when participants tried to call UFOs: he sensed three small craft, and later King, asked separately, pointed to the same spots. The representative added that communication comes in many forms and is hard to decipher.

A 2006 research report on participants' accounts

Atwater compiled a report from participants' written accounts of Starlines, calling it the first in a probable series of Starlines projects, and brought it to the 2006 Professional Seminar for comment. He attended the program himself more than once to understand what was going on, and said the report shows the flow of what happens to people as they go through it. He asked the seminar whether to release the report before or after people attend, since knowing what happens might shape their own experience.

And it comes in so many different, different ways. And, you know, it's … sometimes it's extremely difficult to, should we say, decipher, because … their concepts are so different from ours.”

Important things to consider

An advanced program with prerequisites

Starlines I lists Exploration 27 as a prerequisite and requires an approved application; Exploration 27 has prerequisites of its own, and Starlines II lists Starlines I. McMoneagle and the radio representative both describe Starlines as something you reach after earlier programs. Prerequisites and trainers change, so confirm the current requirements with the Institute.

Few detailed accounts are public

At the 2006 Professional Seminar, Atwater put the question of releasing his Starlines report to the room, and one argument he relayed was that giving it out would tell people what happens in the program and spoil their own experience. He left the decision open. Expect program descriptions and a handful of recollections rather than session-by-session detail.

Reports, not verification

Everything described in Starlines is first-person experience. Daniel Erickson's booklet on the channeled Miranon material calls the levels above F28 increasingly abstract and impossible to verify except by comparing experiences to see if a consensus exists, and otherwise a personal experience. The mathematical-information story is an anecdote, and the speaker did not know what became of the notes. There is no independent verification of any contact reported from the program.

Contact is one frame among several

The program's own language pairs outer space with inner space, and Atwater cautioned against treating it as only a search for visitors. The radio representative said the communication is extremely hard to decipher because the concepts are so different from ours. Expect interpretation, not just encounter, to be part of the work.

Know which kind of source you are reading

The Institute's program pages describe what each retreat offers, in phrases such as galactic ambassador and life-affirming futures. The Miranon booklet is Daniel Erickson's commentary on a channeled framework. The two interviews are staff recollections, and Atwater's talk is a researcher's progress report. Keep track of which is which when you compare statements, and do not treat a program page's language as a result.

Health note

Starlines is a residential retreat for intensive inner exploration, not medical care. If you have a health condition or any doubt about whether an intensive program suits you, talk with your clinician and with the Institute's staff before applying.

Common questions

What is Starlines at the Monroe Institute?

Starlines is a pair of advanced residential programs, Starlines I and Starlines II, at the Monroe Institute. The Institute describes Starlines I as a multi-dimensional journey through deep space that blends its audio technology with cosmic sounds recorded by space probes. Participants travel through the solar system, explore energy systems within Focus 34/35 and beyond, and begin what the page calls a galactic ambassador role. Starlines II builds on it with Focus 49 and the pathway between Earth's core and the galactic core. Nancy McMoneagle says senior trainer Franceen King designed the program. Starlines I requires an approved application and a prerequisite, and everything participants say about the experience is first-person report.

Quote 1Quote 2

What is the difference between Starlines I and Starlines II?

Starlines I is the outward journey: the solar system, the consciousness of each planet, Focus 34/35 and beyond, the I-There Clusters, the Stargate of the Galactic Core and the galactic ambassador role. Starlines II lists Starlines I as a prerequisite and goes deeper. It enters the ultra deep Focus 49, works on strengthening the energetic pathway between Earth's core and the galactic core, explores forms of dimensional shifting, and adds themes of service, symbiosis with Earth and the wisdom paths of ancient civilizations. The Institute presents the second program as a blend of physics and metaphysics. Wording, trainers and schedules change, so the Institute's current program pages are the place to check details.

Quote 2

Which Focus levels does Starlines cover: 34/35, 42 and 49?

The Institute's current pages name Focus 34/35 for Starlines I, described as energy systems within Focus 34/35 and beyond, and Focus 49 for Starlines II, described as ultra deep. The 2012 Monroe Institute web overview places the Gathering at Focus 34/35 and says other Focus levels are explored in the Starline programs. Focus 42 appears in Daniel Erickson's commented booklet on the channeled Miranon material, which calls it a meeting place for channeled entities and I-There cluster consciousness, with expanded memory and multidimensional self integration, and says all levels above F28 are explored in Starlines. Public descriptions of 42 and 49 are sparse, so participants' own accounts are the main evidence.

Quote 6Quote 5

Is Starlines about meeting aliens?

Partly, though the Institute's researcher cautioned against stopping there. Skip Atwater told the 2006 Professional Seminar that some people think the program is all about contacting extraterrestrials, but it is about using inner space to explore outer space, and then outer space to explore inner space. The Starlines I page invites participants to discover their relationship with other life forms and to make contact with higher intelligence and inner guidance, and the radio representative says participants learn to communicate with other forms of being. Contact is part of the program's language, set inside a broader exploration of consciousness, and the accounts describe it as hard to interpret.

Quote 3Quote 2

What do people report experiencing in Starlines?

The available reports are anecdotes. An Institute representative recalled a participant who came back with mathematical information he said he had downloaded from a being; he did not understand it, but another participant found it of great interest. Bruce Moen describes an evening on the roof deck when participants tried to call UFOs: he sensed three small craft and says trainer Franceen King, asked separately, pointed to the same spots. Atwater, who attended more than once, says his report traces the flow of what happens to people through the program. The representative added that communication comes in many forms and is difficult to decipher. None of these accounts has been independently verified.

Quote 4Quote 2

What do I need before I can take Starlines?

Starlines I lists Exploration 27 as a prerequisite and requires an approved application. Exploration 27 has prerequisites of its own, and Starlines II lists Starlines I. Nancy McMoneagle puts it simply: you have to have gone through a couple of programs to take this one. The radio representative likewise described the prerequisite as having already gone beyond Focus 27. Requirements, trainers and schedules change, so confirm them on the Institute's current program pages before planning. If you are new to the Institute, the Focus 27 and Exploration 27 topics on this site are the natural place to start.

In Monroe’s books

Summarized in our own words; the books are not reproduced on this site.

Ultimate Journey. Monroe writes of an I-There cluster as a bonded group of larger selves, possibly thousands strong or more, and treats gathering lost or scattered parts toward unity as a long-term aim. The Starlines I page's language of reclaiming and integrating parts of Self echoes this idea.
