The publisher says the Gateway albums are meant to be used in order, and the 2019 Hemi-Sync Q&A on Wave VII says the same: they do not recommend jumping in. Lifeline, the program Wave VII is built on, is a graduate workshop for people who have first done the Gateway Voyage. Focus 21 arrives on Wave VI, after Focus 10, 12 and 15 have become familiar. Why the Institute once held these tapes back On Art Bell's show an Institute guest said it seemed most appropriate to hear the higher focus levels within programs. Honeycutt, Monroe's stepson, recalled Monroe saying, with a smile, that the material was too powerful for the general public and belonged in a controlled setting with facilitators. Waves VI and VII now reach home listeners, so build your own structure: a quiet time, an unhurried setting, and someone to talk to afterward. Expect settings and stories Accounts of the bridge tend to arrive as places: a cafe, a white marble bridge, a gorge. Some participants keep a personal place they return to; Honeycutt named three of his own, an old farmhouse, an eagle's eyrie and a cave. Record the setting and what happened there, not just the number. Contact reports are reports

People describe meeting deceased relatives, guides or beings they call non-human. Taylor speaks of loved ones and of beings who were never physical; a YouTube host describes being intercepted by a being on the way to see a late family member. These are first-person accounts, and the sources offer no independent confirmation. Note what you were told, whether you could have known it, and what you do with it. Strong emotion is possible Wave VII includes Retrieval and Messages From Beyond, which deal with death and loss. If you are grieving, listen when you are rested, keep a friend or counselor in the picture, and stop if an exercise feels overwhelming. Health caution Focus 21 exercises are awareness practices, not therapy or medical care. With a seizure disorder or a serious mental-health condition, check the publisher's guidance and speak with your clinician before using audio entrainment, and do not change any treatment because of what you experience. What is and is not established Focus 21 is a described state, defined by what practitioners report. Other energy systems and vibratory rates are Monroe's model and trainers' language, not measured categories. The 2012 overview acknowledges controversy about separating Focus 12, 15 and 21, and Honeycutt called Monroe's development of the higher levels incredibly subjective: he listened until he found what he was looking for. Reports of contact have no independent verification. Check which Focus 21 you are reading about

Older commentary, including the 1983 Army report, treats Focus 21 as the future. Institute material and the later albums call it the bridge. When an account says Focus 21, check whether it means a view of the future, a meeting place, or a threshold to the levels beyond. What is Focus 21? Focus 21 is the Gateway state Monroe placed at the edge of time-space, the point from which other energy systems can be contacted. The Institute calls it the bridge. A Monroe-voiced meditation sends the listener from Focus 15 through a sequence of colors to the white of Focus 21, a bridge to the energy systems that can allow you to experience other realities. On Art Bell's show an Institute guest described it as a way to visit other non-physical realms, gather information or get in touch with larger parts of yourself. Home listeners meet it on Wave VI, Odyssey. Why is Focus 21 called the bridge? Because it is presented as the meeting place between the physical and non-physical worlds. Scott Taylor calls it the bridge state, where communication can happen between physical and non-physical bodies, with loved ones and with beings who were never physical. Another Institute speaker called it the last vibratory state before you leave the physical universe: non-physical beings lower their vibratory rate, we raise ours, and the two meet there. In Monroe's phasing model it is the edge of time-space, the farthest level earlier Institute programs had reached before the levels added for Lifeline.
