The publisher warns that discs or downloads from unauthorized sellers may be bootlegs with degraded or altered audio. An older Institute pamphlet adds that many Hemi-Sync signals are mastered far below audible level, so copying or noise-reduction processing can weaken them. Stereo headphones are essential, because each ear must receive its own tone. Over-ear wired headphones are Taylor's preference for the virtual program. Safety and health The publisher calls the series generally safe but advises consulting a medical professional first if you have a medical condition, a tendency toward seizures, an auditory disorder, an adverse mental-health condition, or take medication that affects your ability to relax. Never listen while driving or operating machinery; the Gateway Voyage Online page advises avoiding driving or demanding activity for at least an hour afterward. The exercises are practices, not treatment. Ordinary results come first, and they count Early sessions often bring sleep, restlessness or little you can describe. Taylor says people perceive in different ways: by sight, body feeling, sound, taste, smell or sudden knowing. He tells of a woman who received only the taste of gin, her mother's favorite drink, and took it as the connection she wanted. Trainers also report participants who felt nothing dramatic all week and went home calmer. Do not measure your sessions against anyone else's. Keep a notebook

The Institute's Human Plus tape-taking pamphlet suggests using the exercises at the same time each day and keeping a journal of date and time, body position, medication or unusual diet, mood and energy level. Masluk's participants said that integrating an experience took active engagement afterward: discussing it with trusted people, reading about similar experiences, writing about it. Trainers warn that some impressions only surface later, so a note made straight after the return count helps. Read the 1983 Army report as an outsider's analysis The assessment released through the CIA reading room is an Army officer's attempt to explain Gateway in the language of physics, biomedicine and the holographic universe. It is an analysis, not a training manual, and some of its descriptions differ from the Institute's present wording: it casts Focus 15 as travel into the past and Focus 21 as the future, where the Institute teaches no time and the bridge. It also guesses that fewer than five percent of participants fully reach Focus 15 in a week. What the evidence supports

Most published evidence comes from the Institute's own journal and seminars: small EEG studies, practitioner case reports and surveys such as Masluk's, which rests on volunteers' self-reports with no comparison group. A.J. Honeycutt told a 2014 Institute seminar that there is plenty of anecdotal information but little on the building blocks of how it works, and invited grounded research. Reports of contact with guides or the dead are reports; this site presents them with their sources. What is the Gateway Experience? It is the Monroe Institute's training program for guided awareness, created by Robert Monroe. A recording of Monroe's voice, and in later albums A.J. Honeycutt's, leads you through a preparation, then Hemi-Sync tones support you in reaching states named Focus 10, 12, 15, 21 and beyond. Each exercise has a purpose: relaxing with awareness, solving a problem, patterning a desired outcome, balancing the body with color, or exploring on your own in an unguided free flow. The home version is eight albums called Waves; the residential and online versions teach the same tools with trainers or video guidance. Monroe's only stated dogma was that you are more than your physical body, offered as a premise to test rather than a belief to adopt. What is the difference between the Gateway Experience, Gateway Voyage and Gateway Voyage Online?
