Scott Taylor: “Focus 21 is the bridge state, that meeting place between the physical and non-physical worlds. And here it's all about communication. It's about now being in a place where communication can happen between physical and non-physical bodies. … We're talking about loved ones, people who have been physical or never have been physical.” (The Relationship Between NDEs and OBEs. Scott Taylor at Monroe Institute) “And Focus 21 is the bridge state. … It's the last vibratory state before you leave this physical universe. And so what happens is that those people who are non-physical, they'll lower their vibratory rate. We raise ours up to the bridge state, and it's here that we can connect. So, we can connect with dead relatives, entities that have never been human.” (How the Gateway Voyage Can Transform You) Eben Alexander: “And because I remember kind of asking on the way in, I just wanted some clue about the path I was on. Implication being that it's right path, wrong path, irrelevant, or something, but I just wanted some clue. And floating off of the white marble bridge at Focus 21 into the mist, and I kind of came down into this cafe dug in the side of the gorge.” (Eben Alexander MD Q&A at TMI Professional Seminar 2012.mp4)

A.J. Honeycutt: “In the old days he, with a smile [in] his eye, he would say, oh, this stuff is too powerful to let out to the general public, and we need to sort of like allow people to listen this in a controlled environment where they have a, you know, a safe structure to listen to it in.” (A.J. Honeycutt Q&A on Bob Monroe and Focus 21-27, 2019-01-07) Wayne M. McDonnell: “Focus 21: The Future. The last and most advanced of all the Focus states associated with the Gateway training program involves movement outside of the boundaries of time-space as in Focus 15 but with attention to discovering the future rather than the past. The individual who has achieved this state has reached a truly advanced level.” ((TMI-ARMY Files) 1983 - Analysis and Assessment of Gateway Process — 3 Analysis and Assessment of Gateway Process(CIA).pdf, 1983) Robert Monroe: “Well, what you're looking at first of all are the multitude of, when you get into this non-physical area of being, states of being. The first thing you encounter, of course, is what we call the belief system territories, where one is attracted automatically after they exit here by this phasing process because it's something familiar to them. And these are, of course, all of the various religions have a belief system.” (Robert A. Monroe on Exploring Expanded Consciousness) Follow the sequence
The publisher says the Gateway albums are meant to be used in order, and the 2019 Hemi-Sync Q&A on Wave VII says the same: they do not recommend jumping in. Lifeline, the program Wave VII is built on, is a graduate workshop for people who have first done the Gateway Voyage. Focus 21 arrives on Wave VI, after Focus 10, 12 and 15 have become familiar. Why the Institute once held these tapes back On Art Bell's show an Institute guest said it seemed most appropriate to hear the higher focus levels within programs. Honeycutt, Monroe's stepson, recalled Monroe saying, with a smile, that the material was too powerful for the general public and belonged in a controlled setting with facilitators. Waves VI and VII now reach home listeners, so build your own structure: a quiet time, an unhurried setting, and someone to talk to afterward. Expect settings and stories Accounts of the bridge tend to arrive as places: a cafe, a white marble bridge, a gorge. Some participants keep a personal place they return to; Honeycutt named three of his own, an old farmhouse, an eagle's eyrie and a cave. Record the setting and what happened there, not just the number. Contact reports are reports
