UFOs, Psionic Abilities & the Terrifying Truth of Reality | Journeys Out of the Body

Picture this. You're leading a normal life. You've got a great career, a family, and then suddenly in your 40s, out of nowhere, you start having spontaneous out-of body experiences. You start traveling to strange realms, encountering other intelligences, experiencing worlds you swear are just as, if not more, real than this one. Well, this is exactly what happened to advertising executive Robert Monroe in the late 1950s. It started as strange sensations, vibrations, swellings of energy in his body in the middle of the night. And before Bob knew it, he found himself in the midst of a truly lifealtering, multi-dimensional journey that would change the course of everything for him and thousands of others. In his cult classic book, Journeys Out of the Body, Monroe documents dozens of these out-of- body journeys. But there's one chapter right near the end of the book that's always stood out to me, titled Inconclusive. In this compelling chapter, things take a speculative, darker turn where Monroe establishes surprising connections between out-of- body experiences, consciousness, and the UFO phenomenon. Connections that are still just as, if not more, relevant today given recent revelations around non-human intelligence and UFO disclosure. In this chapter, after years of explorations out of the body, Monroe begins to reflect. What does it all mean? Why are we here? who or what is running the show and what are they after? His musings culminate in a vision and it's not a pleasant one. It involves intelligences far wiser than we are. Intelligences that want to harvest us as resources. In this transmission, we'll read through and unpack the philosophical and esoteric implications of Monroe's visions. And I think you'll see that they're more compelling than ever. And by the way, if you want to hear about my experience at the Monroe Institute with her infamous gateway transmission. After all these years, I still do not know how and why this departure from the norm took place. On the surface, there is no easily determined cause. Medical and mental sciences offer no certain answers, which has made me alternately resentful, sad, and thankful. resentful in that my faith in the scope and breath of modern scientific achievement has been badly shaken. Sad because full-scale development of directly related knowledge is not likely to come in my physical lifetime. And thankful for the few scientists of our time who are brave enough to consider objectively concepts which may negate years of study as well as long ingrained religious and ethical beliefs. Therefore, if no current scientific theory fits without an inordinate amount of pushing, pulling, twisting, and squeezing, it seems reasonable to propound a new premise that does seem to work. After all, one can prove that man is nothing more than a few gallons of tainted water. Only extreme pressure is needed to fit the phenomenon to the theory. The following premise, unacceptable as it may be to our present state of enlightenment, deserves consideration. No other offers more explanations and leaves less unanswered. This is not to say that it is necessarily valid. Only future events can determine its validity. Conversely, there is no known theory to prove it false. The basis of the premise is certainly not original here. But its application is question. What happens to the laboratory animal once the experiment is completed? In a universe populated with sentient beings of great variety, the planetary environment, germinating life follows a typical pattern. The prime requirement is a diffusing and restraining shield that envelops the entire planet. When this shield has formed through the normal evolution of planet matter, the shield is composed of gases and liquids of sufficient density to one deflect filter and/or convert radiation from the parent and nearby stars to a point of tolerance needed for animate life and two maintain internally generated planetary heat at an average level within the limits required for biochemical process. Once developed, the shield permits only filtered light and reduced radiation to reach the surface of the planet. Visibility is limited strictly to nearby objects on the surface and vertically to less than onetenth of the diameter of the planetary body. No distant stars, moons, or other planets can be seen. In this environment, animate physical life generates and evolves in a broadening cycle where no such shield has developed and remained for a significant period. No animate physical life is present. Where the shield has decayed or drained off into space, life has deteriorated and died unless intellectual knowledge is sufficient to develop and install an artificial environment. The accepted premise then is that all planetary bodies fall into two categories, shielded and unshielded. On the translucently shielded planets, animate physical life may evolve. The unshielded stay buried, devoid of anything but inorganic matter. Only in very rare instances are there any deviations from this rule. Evolving sentient life in these conditions becomes aware of and utilizes first those natural forces directly perceived. Such forces in the order of perception and appreciation are one psionic creative thought energy, two biochemical, three nuclear and four gravitational. Electromagnetism is employed sparingly and remains more as a byproduct of other force applications much like the smoke from a useful fire. The primary needs of these evolving life forms are met through development of the sigh force. The first of these needs communication is an automatic birthright. Transmission and reception of information from individual to individual or from one group to another knows no time spatiality. Through experience and education, proficiency is gained in other applications of sigh such as movement and conversion of matter, direction and control of lesser species in communication and association with those in the realms of non-physical matter. As the intelligent life forms develop into societies and civilizations, the understanding and knowledge of the remaining available forces come quite naturally. Typically, these are the result of the individuals and the society's desire to be relieved of the tedium of constant and continuous use of the cyors. Thus, mechanical means are created to produce body nourishment, to master and control the planetary environment, to transport matter, to multiply motion, and even to modulate and amplify the SCI force. Through the non-atter perceptiveness of Sai, the remaining forces are quickly adapted and harnessed to these needs. It is probable that at this stage, the society achieves its first rational contact with other societies beyond the confines of its native planet. and with the inhabitants of non-physical worlds. With this final step to maturity, the social organization is merged into an infinitely larger whole of intergalactic society. It is no coincidence that the incontrovertible knowledge of the relationship of the totality to the creator is the major product of this union. Gone immediately are misdirected fantasies and conjecture. The standards under which intelligent life may evolve and expand are woven inextricably into the rules and laws of energy and applied with equal rigor. So it might be useful to just pause here and reflect on what Monroe is saying. Um first he's sort of laying out this case that there are these particular necessities or factors required for a planet to even gestate sentient life. you know this um dichotomy between shielded and unshielded planets such that the conditions on earth or any planet are perfect for developing um sentient life. Then he starts talking about you know the stages of evolution of sentient life forms talking about the necessity of harnessing uh the scy force which starts as this very rudimentary thing which we don't have very much control over but eventually culminates in realizing that we are part of this totality. You know he calls it the creator there but you'll see that his definition of creator is a bit different than what we might normally think depending on your uh metaphysical persuasions. It is interesting to me that in his definition of sigh, he's ascribing things that almost sound uh completely mundane to this force um all the way on up to uh communing with non-physical beings which I think most of us would typically um associate with some of the further reaches of sigh. know if there is a a sigh component to the human being, a consciousness component. Um, that is kind of one of the logical conclusions of most seekers is that your consciousness is just a boundary that can be transcended to a certain degree. And you when you do that transcendence or at least stretch that capacity, you will inevitably seemingly run into other beings. Um, I'll stem it there because I think I would be uh speaking prematurely if I go further. Anyway, gone immediately are misdirected fantasies and conjecture. In the distant past, many of these social organizations had become aware of low order scorce emanations from the outer rim of an obscure galaxy. At first, this phenomenon evoked only minor interest, both qualitatively and quantitatively. It seemed to be no more than subintelligent animal transmission. However, an idle technician happened to process the raw incoming sigh noise through a random sorder out of mild curiosity. To his surprise, infrequent flashes of applied sigh appeared on the counter. Intrigued by the oddity, a sigh probe was made of the area. As suspected, the birth of a new society was unfolding. Excited by the discovery of such an unusual event, the standard sigh communication for new societies was transmitted. Strangely, no reply was received. Successive transmissions brought the same result. Here indeed was a rarity. An ecological team was dispatched to investigate physically this anomaly. The researchers discovered the source to be a third planet in a class 10 star system. as they orbited the planet itself. Measurements and observation indicated that it did not follow the norm of propagation of intelligent life. The gaseous planetary envelope did not possess the usual unbroken high filtration characteristics. This evidently permitted unusually large amounts of radiation to reach the surface, even to a point where the sun was clearly visible from the surface itself, as well as distant planets and stars when viewed from the shadowed side. Further, due to high rotational speed and other factors, a magnetic field of great intensity pervaded the entire planet. This coupled with an unusual radiation element appeared to exert profound influences upon the infant society. At close range, the sigh noise became virtually unbearable. Without equipment for shielding or sorting, it became impossible for the group to surface on the planet itself. The sigh impression was that of raw, unchanled irrationality, uncontrolled, and non-objective. Yet visual observation showed the beginnings of societal clusters, matter, artifacts, and conquest of environment. Luckily, one member of the visiting group had worked extensively in the art of personal sigh shielding. It was he who offered to establish physical contact on the planet itself. This was done while the others waited patiently in a shelter on the planet's barren and brittle satellite. The visit itself proved the inadequacy of his training under extreme conditions. The investigator returned a short while later in a state of mental exhaustion. He had however been able to make contact at several points around the surface. It was true a new society was in the making, but under unimaginable restraints. There was no knowledge, understanding, or use of the SI force whatsoever. When sigh communication was attempted, the inhabitants either fled in panic or prostrated themselves and emanated strong sigh reactions to the effect that they were in the presence of the creator. Paradoxically, careful sigh probes found occasional glimmerings of the universal laws in the minds of these individuals, which conclusively proved that the seed had truly been sown, that this was intended to develop into a societal structure according to the plan, whatever the environment. So if in case it's unclear, the scenario that Monroe is hypothetically presenting here is that although Earth does seem to be following the grammar of evolving sentient life, there's something strange about us. The sigh force in us remains latent and not understood except by an exceedingly small few. So much so that when we come into contact with other beings that can control this sc force or maybe predominantly are enveloped in and uh wielding this sc force, we mistake them for God. We think that they're uh representatives of the divine. And perhaps maybe they are more divine than us, but it's as if we're just, you know, what comes to mind is the biblically accurate angels and the whole be not afraid thing. And I love that he's playing into this idea that these higher intelligent life forms are hiding out quote uh hiding out on the planet's barren, brittle satellite, uh the moon, of course. And sidebar, I guess the the unspoken connotation here, I think, is that this is a mixture of things that Monroe has experienced himself in his own OBBE, whatever you want to call them, explorations. And some of it is him filling in the gaps with a fictional, but what I think he's trying to convey is a plausible version of how events might really be unfolding. With this knowledge, the research team returned to their own society to ponder the problem. In later periods, other better equipped investigators visited and observed this struggling intelligent life from time to time. All visits were performed within the rules which applied to the infant society so that no direct support was given and would instigate dominance of one culture over another. Infrequently, intelligent applications of sigh were found at the individual level and this was encouraged. Still, in spite of all precautions, it was ascertained that actual visits only reinforced the myths and legends that had sprung up as a result of previous contacts. It was the exception that objective response was obtained from an individual via sigh probe. None of these responses extended to common practice. In recent periods, the situation has altered significantly. Routine sigh monitoring plus referential advice from non-matter intelligences show that the society in question has surprisingly entered the nuclear stage while still in the biochemical. Applications of nuclear force inevitably lead to gravities which presumes historically the early prospect of interstellar travel. Without complete understanding of sigh force fields, contact with other social organizations by the new nonsai society could be disastrous. If interstellar physical travel is achieved, such contacts are a certainty. With this prospect in view, research groups have increased their efforts at contact without a serious effect upon the dynamics of the new society. It is difficult in that the same obstacles are present. The continuing interpretation of divinity orientation persists. Some who are contacted by sigh probes still lose their ability to reason and are isolated as sufferers of some disease. Any lasting sigh communication pattern is usually labeled as unreality or a dream. A term used by the society to identify uncoordinated sigh activity during recharging periods similar to that found among infants and normal societal structures, social structures. Most frustrating are attempts to communicate with the intellectual leaders. Without exception, these have been unsuccessful. Research suggests this to be the result of a total concentration in the study of matter. Historical rejection of all SCI force phenomena and the inability to comprehend any communication other than that perceived by the sensors of light, sound, vibration of the gaseous envelope and variations in electromagnetic radiation mechanically generated and translated. The only minimal success has been with individuals without inhibitory quote scientific training with little to unlearn and no prestige loss to be suffered. Productive exchange of rational thought has been accomplished in several of these relatively uneducated inhabitants. Unfortunately, the interpretation given the data received by such untrained minds is also highly distorted. Further, the guiding authorities of the young society dismiss the testimony and claims of such people by reason of their ignorance. Just to quickly review a few uh novel details. I love this idea that uh again the breaching of the nuclear boundary, us making nuclear discoveries, creating uh the nuclear bomb, uh harnessing the power of the atom is of concern to these other more highly evolved societies because it could have negative repercussions for them. particularly because we're still uh so rooted in physical understanding of self and literal physical uh manifestations of self. Kind of implying that as you go up this uh evolutionary ladder, you probably become less and less physical or at least committed to your understanding of self of individual as physical. One potential quibble I guess I could have or question I would have is um you know he talks about that also being the first major step toward interstellar travel and that if we're wielding this um power and using it for long distance interstellar travel that uh running into other more highly evolved sentient life forms is an inevitability and I guess my question would be if we are physically space traveling why would it be therefore obvious that we would run into these other more evolved societies if they are not physical. Um maybe they're still physical in some sense or they have uh physical hubs for lack of a better term but they are able to project non-physically from those. I don't know making an assumption I guess I have some questions but still very uh interesting idea and I think it's also very true that the people who would be most receptive to these uh sigh communications would be people that we would typically conceive of as less educated you know uh shamans or uh native people who are not as polluted by scientific materialism and wouldn't write it off as some kind of delusion but really would take seriously as some kind of communication from another being. But then as he points out, the drawback to that would be um that people who are, you know, quote unquote more evolved in their thinking would dismiss that as superstition. Right. Okay. Continuing. The work still continues. Highlevel SCI force radiation equipment is being employed in the hope of a breakthrough to the society members during their waking active state. Any individuals who possess some degree of intellect coupled with objective curiosity are being taught, sometimes painfully, the basics of scorce techniques. Others are being taken out of their environment temporarily, either as dense particle matter or as sigh entities to be tested and examined for clues to the solution of the problem. So again to pause there, this idea that you know, right, what we would conceive of as alien abductions is really um these higher beings doing experiments on us or or trying to communicate with us and then we take it as this uh malicious mysterious thing. That first bit is really interesting though because it is sort of reminiscent of some of these stories we're hearing um about potentially clandestine um you know uh top secret programs of people being experimented on Stranger Things style right like all this recent stuff these rumors about uh people in the gate program being groomed to be psychic spies I'm specifically talking about or or not psychic spies but I don't psionic assets. Um, I'll resist the urge to go down that rabbit hole right now, but that first part of what he said there reminded me of that. This line specifically, any individuals who possess some degree of intellect coupled with objective curiosity are being taught, sometimes painfully, the basics of sci techniques. Maybe I'm missing something there, but that's what it reminded me of. Okay, continuing again. Now others are being taken out of their environment temporarily either as dense particle matter or as site entities to be tested and examined for clues to the solution of the problem. No direct action will be taken. This in keeping with the rules of preservation as they apply to all lesser social organizations. It is a fact many times proved that such subclassifications are consistently lost when contact is made with more advanced societies. The details of this hypothesis may be wrong. The motivation's different, but the basis may be not all far from reality. We may in fact be no more than interesting laboratory animals to quote them unquote. Useful in various experiments, but not much more. If such communication and/or experimentation was and is now being attempted, it could account for much that is left unanswered in our human history. Certainly, it would widely cut across past and present theological beliefs as events ascribed to God and his assistance in whatever form would assume a more prosaic status. The life sciences, especially those relating to the mind, personality, and neurological functions, would have to undergo a major overhauling. Both mental and physical diseases would perhaps be understood with exact knowledge, replacing the vague assumptions now prevalent. Most adaptable would be the physical sciences. Here, experimentation and extrapolation would be a relatively simple matter with new information and theories built upon fairly solid foundations. On a personal level, the hypothesis described above may offer a reasonable answer to much of my own experience. A pointby-point re-examination would be necessary to bring into focus the proper relationship in each circumstance. like the philosopher, psychiatrist and others who have spent many years of experimentation, training and development along a particular concept vector. I am loathed to change course still again. Yet the following experiences cannot be totally ignored. They occurred in the early period of experimentation and are taken almost verbatim from the notes. Okay, so now we'll be getting into some specific anecdotes from Monroe that made him think along the lines of the hypothesis that we just read. 91 1960 night. I was laying in a north south position when I suddenly felt bathed and transfixed by a very powerful beam that seemed to come from the north about 30° above the horizon. I was completely powerless with no will of my own and I felt as if I were in the presence of a very strong force in personal contact with it. It had intelligence of a form beyond my comprehension and it came directly down the beam into my head and seemed to be searching every memory in my mind. I was truly frightened because I was powerless to do anything about this intrusion. This intelligence force entered my head just above the forehead and offered no calming thoughts or words. It didn't seem to be aware of any of my feelings or emotions. It was looking impersonally, hurriedly and definitely for something specific in my mind. After a while, perhaps only moments, it left and I reintegrated, arose shaken, and went outside for some fresh air. 9:16 1960 night. The same impersonal probing, the same power from the same angle. However, this time I received the firm impression that I was inextricably bound by loyalty to this intelligent force. Always had been, and that I had a job to perform here on Earth. The job was not necessarily to my liking, but I was assigned to it. The impression was that I was manning a quote pumping station unquote. That it was a dirty ordinary job, but it was mine and I was stuck with it and nothing, absolutely nothing would alter the situation. I got the impression of huge pipes so ancient that they were covered with undergrowth and rust. Something like oil was passing through them, but it was much higher in energy than oil and vitally needed and valuable elsewhere. assumption not on this material planet. This has been going on for periods of time and there were other force groups here taking out the same material on some highly competitive basis and the material was convertible at some distant point of civilization for something very valuable to entities far above my ability to understand. Again, the intelligence force moved out and away quickly, and the visitation ended. I got up after a bit feeling depressed and went into the bathroom of our house and actually felt I should wash my hands after working although my hands were clean. Attempted to riff and pontificate here again, but we're almost done. So, I'm going to wait. 9:30 1960 night. The same pattern as 9:16. Again, there was the feeling of being the pumping station attendant. The approach of the entity down the beam. the search of my mind this time even to see what specifically controlled my breathing apparatus. I seemed to understand that the entity was looking for some substance that might permit breathing in Earth atmosphere and a picture was shown in my mind of a pouch possibly 2x3 in and 1 in thick hung on a belt at the waist with the statement this is how we are breathing now. This gave me courage to try to communicate. I mentally orally also asked who they were and received an answer that I could not translate or understand. Then I felt them beginning to leave and I asked for some actual indication that they had been there but was rewarded with only paternal amusement. Then they seemed to soar up into the sky while I called after them pleading. Then I was sure that their mentality and intelligence were far beyond my understanding. It is an impersonal cold intelligence with none of the emotions of love or compassion which we respect so much. Yet this may be the omnipotence we call God. Visits such as these in mankind's past could well have been the basis for all of our religious beliefs and our knowledge today could provide no better answers than we could a thousand years past. By this time it was getting light and I sat down and cried. Great deep sobs as I had never cried before because then I knew without any qualification or future hope of change that the god of my childhood of the churches of religion throughout the world was not as we worshiped him to be. That for the rest of my life I would suffer the loss of this illusion. Are we then just leftover laboratory animals? Or perhaps the experiment is still in process. By the end of chapter 20, Monroe paints a pretty bleak picture of the human condition. We're essentially a resource at the mercy of a vast alien pumping station where human beings are drained of some vital intangible essence. Monroe would later refer to this resource as luch. According to Monroe's vision, Earth is like a factory of suffering, exploitation, and confusion where we're helpless, psychospiritually fed upon by beings far more advanced than we are. But before we move on, I do want to take a moment to appreciate a couple uh beautiful lore nuggets that Monroe drops for us. One, these pouches that sound exactly like these mysterious uh pieces of luggage in all of these ancient depictions of gods or Anunnaki from multiple parts of the world. Obviously, there's been so much speculation around what these pouches are and what's inside of them. And apparently, according to Monroe, it has something to do with how they breathe or traverse Earth's atmosphere. And two, that these entities use the moon as a base or waypoint because the moon is just so objectively weird. There's been entire books written about it. There have been countless podcasts and YouTube videos. It's one of those rabbit holes that really makes less sense the more you look into it. Uh, but I digress. So, if the picture that Monroe is painting sounds familiar, it's because it is. It's essentially the Matrix. Or in lore that long predates Monroe, it's the metaphysical picture presented by Gnostics. The sort of dark prison realm scenario. The ideas pretty much map one to one. We live in a false reality controlled by beings far more advanced than we are. The Gnostics would call them archons. The only major difference is that Monroe doesn't really offer us a way out of this scenario, at least not in this book. So again, not a rosy metaphysical situation for us humans. But what if there's another way to look at this? What if the hyper advanced cold malevolence that Monroe saw is just a tiny fraction of a much more complex and mysterious picture? Well, adjacent to Monroe's scenario and this Gnostic scenario are the Platonic and hermetic traditions. And I'm really generalizing here, but in these traditions, Earth is not some fallen prison planet, some uh dark factory where we're milk for our essence. It's a natural manifestation of the world soul. And the suffering here is not senseless. For humans in particular, it's more of a crucible or alchemical laboratory where we can transmute our souls. So our emotions, our struggles, our loves and losses, they're not just louch to be fed upon. They're an opportunity for education, for reflection and transformation. Reflection that can ultimately lead to a spiritual rebirth into our truer higher selves, into what hermeticists and plaintists would call the logos or the knowetic realm. So perhaps what Monroe saw then, these higher beings, this energy being emitted and consumed, perhaps this is just one small aspect of what's really going on, our participation in a massive cosmic metaphysical ecology of intelligences, but that underneath it all, everything is really one. And again, this is what the Plleonists and hermeticists believed. So in summary, yes, in this ecology of intelligences, there may be some malicious beings that want to feed on us, but some others are indifferent. Others are our guides and caretakers. And the highest, most powerful, according to these traditions, are completely benevolent. So in this similar alternate view, we're not cattle to be harvested. It's more like they, whatever you want to call them, are like gardeners tending to us, waiting for us to ripen into the next phase of our being. And to temper this dark vision even more, Monroe himself would actually evolve his own view considerably. By ultimate journey, his tone completely shifts. The fear gives way to participation, and he doesn't spell everything out for us. important questions do remain, but the outlook becomes one of cosmic integration and awakening over the course of many lifetimes. So maybe the vision at the end of chapter 20 is just a small part of a much larger story. Maybe the rest of the story is about waking up to where we really came from, what our consciousness really is and where it's really going. We're evolving members of a vast living cosmos. And underneath it all, we're fractals of a singular united consciousness. And if not, let's at least try to have fun and be kind to each other while we uh tumble through the Cifian cosmic soul recycler while we're being milked of our psychosspiritual essence.
