2002 Professional Seminar: The Application of Hemi-Sync® in a Medical Setting (Skip Atwater) (Transcript) NOTE: This is a raw transcript – it is exactly as created by otter.ai. 00:23 I thought that was my time what's Up and good day Okay, are you noisy people settle down anybody who's not here, please stand up we're going to move out of the realm of remote healing to a really remote subject now. 02:40 Has everybody is everybody here familiar with the Lifeline program for somebody here who has not been to the Lifeline program? Okay, you'll have to leave the room now or die within one of the programs that the Monroe Institute teaches the Lifeline program, one of the templates we put over that is the ability to visit some of the territories purportedly experienced after the death process. And one of those areas, which we'll talk about in a little bit, one of those areas or zones or processes or experiences we refer to as the healing regeneration center. So this is going to be a look at the exploration of the healing and regeneration center that area now, for those of you who haven't been to lifeline, I'll explain a little bit more about what that is, this is all written up in a paper that's available. And I'm gonna pass out the abstract for that. And if anybody would like the full paper, we're going to put a list together and then Xerox enough copies. If you were part of this study, this studied at seven different people, if you are part of this study, you already have a copy of this. Otherwise, I'm gonna put these here to pass around. These are just abstracts but again, we'll put together a list for people who want to get the full thing if they'd like to have the full report. So we're going to talk about this concept of inducing focused states of consciousness. And I'll dwell mostly on Hemi sync as a method for doing that, obviously, and talk about this thing called the healing regeneration center kind of define a little bit about what it's all about. And then, Mellon hinted a little bit about the difference between quantitative and qualitative research. This is a qualitative research effort and I'll explain to you the difference there and how this comes about, we're gonna look at the background of the 87 different subjects, we did a two year study with 87 subjects, how we gather the information, the analysis techniques, what we found out from that, and then we go to lunch. Okay, when I give this talk elsewhere, people aren't nearly as familiar with the Hemi SYNC system. And so I talked about different ways in which one might induce an altered state of consciousness. Of course, there are many different meditative style of practices, the three Ds, drugs, dance, and drumming. There are concepts of the near death experience that have everything to do with what we practice here, and in this particular program, and what I'm going to talk about in terms of the experience people have, but I'm not necessarily suggesting near death experiences as a way to obtain an altered state of consciousness. Not to be a sure way to get out of your body, but I you know, on the recommended list, ways to go about doing things in terms of using Hemi sync for altering consciousness. Of course, I've been involved in wondering how that happens ever since I first met Bob back in 1977. was dealing with the remote viewing issue and wondering whether this Hemi sync thing would help remote viewers. And I, you know, had this puzzle and I kept asked Bob asking about what makes this stuff work anyway, what is it that makes this stuff work? And I think that's why he came to ask me for my passion in the lab. Because when I went into the lab, I really wanted to know, what makes this stuff work anyway, in being that science and knowledge is sort of a moving target, we have to look at, you know, where we are right now and March of 2002. And talk about what makes this stuff work as far as we know right now. And 10 years from now, if I'm fortunate enough to still be giving a presentation, I might, you know, have a different thought. Certainly I had different thoughts. 10 years previous gave this similar kind of orientation had different things here. But the way we think Hemi sync works now, and I have some other notions, the way I've been able to get papers published about the way Hemi sync works, is sticking with a conventional neural anatomy model of neurotransmitters, the idea of the reticular activating system being stimulated by the sound, and that changing the balance of neurotransmitters noradrenaline, serotonin, set a colon at the cortex. That has been an acceptable model that seems like that may, in fact, be a reasonable explanation of why brainwaves change when this rhythmic stimulus is presented to it. But that change in our brainwaves state the amplitude of our brainwaves in whatever frequency theta alpha beta delta is not the same as our personal subjective experience. It's easy to understand if you think about it, scientists have been studying the dream research, they put you in a sleep lab and they say, Oh, look here we have theta brainwaves with rapid eye movement. And now it's down into delta rapid eye movement. This is a dream cycle. Noodle lasts this amount of time. But that doesn't tell us anything about the content of that person's dream. And we are told that we all have dreams. My father came to me and said, I've never had a dream. I hear people talk about it. Your mother tells me about this. But I don't dream. Well, physiologically. That's not true. So what our brainwaves are doing doesn't make very much testimony about what our personal experiences are about. Yet, there does seem to be windows that are indicated. You have to be in this physiological dream state to have a dream. Maybe you know, if you're daydreaming as you're walking down the sidewalk, you can do rapid eye movement while you're daydreaming. Not necessarily but you do have thoughts and concepts wandering around. In this situation. does seem to be an assumption a concept of a meditative Beta Delta states provide experiential access to these different windows. So the Hemi sync tools that Bob has left us, he hasn't laid any particular cosmology on the way it is, he has said, here's some tools, go find out for yourself what it's all about. So, in this particular subject right here, we're going to talk about using this Hemi Sync tool in deep meditative and out of body states to be exploring some subjective experiences. And then using the tool of qualitative analysis to poke at the question Is there a hint of reality or collective unconscious opinion about the subjective experiences that people are having in one particular window and one particular venue, which we call the healing regeneration Center, which is timely because this seminar is about healing. I gotta walk over here, push a button. Okay, this thing called the healing regeneration center. Now those of you who have been to the various focus levels know that you talk about, oh, this is a focus 12 experience, or this is a focus 15 experience. While the healing regeneration Center is a focus 27 experience. It has something to do with the park or reception center kind of concept that Bob talks about, in lifeline. And drop, Bob drew this paradigm of a realm beyond lifeline from his own experiences from talking with other people from the near death experiencers in the reports to this general overview and concept of some sort of a welcoming area. And Bob called it a park or a reception center. And yet all of you know that 12:04 you imprint on top of that, your own personal Park Mine happens to be a national park, as opposed to a playground kind of park. But the idea of a park or a welcoming place has these overtones of family, good times, good gathering kind of a amorphous sort of thing, and we have to put a word on it. And then we actually construct what we believe to be a physical realm there. We didn't behave according to the physics of this particular physical realm. But out of that general idea, we project a model of what that might be like, for us, but it still has that characteristics of family of gathering a reunion ish, good time ish kind of flavor to it. And then in beginning to look at this process more, that these rounds can be kind of mapped or zoned off. And it's hard to use physical words. And yet, that's the only words we can talk about is oh, well, there's different areas or different zones, or it's points on a map. Well, in mental experience, in the subjective realm, there are no you know, preposition orientations or action verbs, it's all stuff that you do in your mind, but we're talking about it in terms of physical terms, there seems to be something called the Planning Center, it also seeing something called a healing and regeneration center. Okay, now putting that word center on there is like, oh, it's like the center, you know, we're in a physical building, you know, and it has windows and doors and lights and so forth. And so on a center, an institution of some kind. And yet, I think the what works for me is it instead of thinking about it, in those physical terms, it seems to be a process, something that we experience, some sort of process, and then we imprint upon it a physical dimensionality so that we might talk about it with each other or it's just a habit to do that, you know, in talking to Bob and later years about So Bob, do you know do you really have an astral body when you're out there cruising around? And he said, Well, I wrote about that in my books and and people like to think you keep all your body parts, you know, when you go. But he says, now it's more like I was a spot of light. And that this idea of having this humanoid shape is more a concept of local traffic was his to thinking about things in terms of local traffic, and it certainly doesn't represent all over Reality a humanoid form, but it certainly doesn't represent that. So I think it's the same thing happening out here in focus 27 realms and the healing regeneration center, we imbue the atmosphere of this process with physicality, for reasons of familiarity and being able to talk about it with each other. So forgive my word as I slipped back into talking about this as a physical place when I have an understanding myself, but it's probably more of some sort of process through which we pass some sort of process that we experience. And it's reported with near death experiences, and is accessible through deep meditative states isn't the out of body experience is my mic off? Okay, I stopped turning myself I thought it was done. So much of the work that I did when I first came here was trying to figure out how Hemi sync works, and had different models and concepts of how the sound affected the brain. And I spent the decade of the 90s, at the urging of the professional division to get some documentation out there, putting together a few models. And then you all added your own input to that in your own models of trying to explain with numbers by measuring physiological parameters, you put these sounds in, you get these brainwaves out. And there's been a couple of reports published on that. And there's others available on the net. And you all are putting out your own similar kind of data in that way, counting up numbers to that the other side of the house, instead of counting up numbers and looking at statistical parameters to validate the truth, or the existence of this, in any way would be to look at an individual's experience. And so there's a realm of science or studying such subjective experiences called qualitative analysis. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with that, a good example of that might be implementing a no smoking policy in your company, you have a, you know, a 10 story
