to come on back here and we'll go to lunch now and I was thinking about it and thinking about
it. And he changed the sounds and my ears and he lowered the bed back down to the ground.
And I listened real carefully to see if I can hear it you know, the air coming out of the cylinder
banging on the walls or something as it went down to the floor. I didn't hear anything. And the
next thing I knew he came opening the door turning the lights on hey, let's go to lunch while I'm
down here the greasy spoon get a hamburger maybe what I'm counting seat here. You
mentioned her and you want to have a salad where you want to go for lunch and I'm I'm still
liking the ozone right. I turned in the bed and I Pull up the blankets I'm looking I mean, I want to
see this piston you know that push this thing up. And we say to you drop your wallet into there
what happened? At noon, drop my one. And so he's been smart, right? He knows if I get up
and walk around, get out in the sunshine, the fresh air, I'm going to be okay. So we're walking
down the hallway. And he's saying, Well, what are you gonna do for lunch? What do I have for
lunch and everything. And I never said these words to him. But in my head, he's yelling me
behind me when I'm walking out trying to figure out what happened to me here. I'm thinking if I
could get a six pack of whatever it was, we just did. Now that would be a good lunch. Well, that
was my first encounter with Hemi sync. And at lunch that day. I told Bob about feeling the bed
moving up and one to ask him, you know about that mechanism? How did he do that? And he
laughed and said, Well, you know, the bed didn't really move. And then a little light bulb comes
on your door? Oh, I said, well, listen, does everybody have that kind of experience with this
technology? And he says, oh, no, not at all. And I said, well, they knew most of us some sort of
special sounds with me. That's what you did. Right? That was a special tape that you played
for me? He said, Oh, no, no, no, not at all. Not at all. I said, Well, what? How come I had this
experience? Then he said our Well, I could tell by talking to you and the things you went
through in your childhood, that this would be probably very easy for you that all you had to do
was kind of get settled in. And this would probably happen to you very nicely. I tell you this
story, because I want you to understand how important it was for me to find out. What was that
tape he played for me anyway? And all this talk about Hemi sync? Was it just snake oil? You
know it? Was it self fulfilling prophecy? Was it the placebo effect? Was it I was just right for this
experience? And so I got rid the famous Bob Monroe in a darkened room and a pair of
earphones and it happened some sort of wish fulfillment kind of thing? Or was there really
something to this? Did what he was doing have any contributing effect? Yes, he was right. He
admitted that, because I've done this my childhood are probably reemerge quite easily for him.
But what was it about this thing that he was doing? So I spent the next you know, 10 years
remote viewing with the government. And when I retired from there, Bob asked me to come
down and work in the lab. And I think he saw in me that curiosity. You know, he said, That guy
really wants to know, know, if I get him to come work here, maybe he could find out. So that's
what I've been doing for a while now is trying to find out and it's been a exploration with putting
hundreds of people through birth booth experiences doing dozens of booth experiences
myself. And then finally, getting down to doing some real hard science and looking at this, first,
I had to find out what should I be looking at. And then really get down and look at what's going
on here. So if we couldn't back up to where my thinking came from, Monroe Institute brochure
here that we send out to people in the in the brochure here, talks about what handshake is and
stuff. It's as this whole brain functioning is the result of the neurological mechanism known as
the frequency following response, but basic component of this educational experience. Well,
as I poked around, nobody had ever actually demonstrated that Bob's tapes produced a
frequency following response, a frequency following response is something that you can
actually measure with an EEG machine, you can put electrodes on top of the head here. And
as the sounds go, long, long, long, long, long walk, you get a theory very, very faint echo of a
signal up here at the top of the head at the same pulsing, called the frequency following
response, but nobody is actually measured using Hemi sync. Now, there had been a couple of
previous studies done by Gerald roaster and guy named Hank, measuring The frequency
following response for the purposes of hearing acuity research, you there, you can use the
concept of binaural beating as a diagnostic tool to determine where someone's hearing loss is
coming from, or what kind of neural damage they might have. So the people in the audiology
community, we're very interested in doing this. So there were a couple of previous studies
where they had measured a frequency following response for that purpose. But nobody had
ever measured this thing called the frequency following response. Just to make sure, I mean, it
was a proof of principle it existed in the scientific literature, yes, binaural beats greater
frequency response, following sponsors, a couple studies started out. But it was kind of
important that I look into that myself that I actually tried to do that myself see if we could
determine if there was a frequency following response. So in the back, there is a paper called
binaural beats and the frequency following response. We did that study, we took a look and
see if we could show whether or not there were were in fact binaural beats that were a not a
big feat in the scientific literature, but there were and we use a system, these little, this
frequency following response is so low in amplitude, that you can't see it right away. It's like, if I
clap my hands like that, you think, Oh, well, you could measure your brainwaves and see that,
actually, you have to have a bunch of handclaps and then go back in time and stack the
brainwaves together. And mathematically add them together until you can say, Aha, what's left
after we get rid of all the garbage? Is this little clip that happened? Right? When you clap your
hands? Well, you have to do the same thing with the frequency following response. You have
to measure lots of exposures. Lots of why was your wild while not want, you gotta measure a
lot of them. And then you go back and you stack them all up? And you find Yes, in fact, the
brain does have this little response to the binaural beat. So that was very, very important.
Because it's to prove that the binaural beating that Bob uses here is actually a neurological
process to actually have neurological evidence that it did get in there was very, very important.
So there's a study back there that you can all take with you and take a look at if you like.

The reason I say it's no great feat, however, is that what we're interested in is an change in the
overall ongoing brainwave activity, not just this little baby frequency following response that's
been back there. You see, our brainwave activity is one of the ways in which we can measure
our state of arousal. I can't measure your brainwaves and tell what you're thinking. But I can
probably tell whether you're awake or asleep or in a hypnogogic area. Playing basketball
versus sleeping, I can probably tell that from your brainwaves. Okay, but I can't tell what you're
thinking. So to be able to measure the brainwave response, the overall change in brainwaves
would be a really good indicator whether people were getting into this a real where we thought
these kinds of experiences happened. Now Bob himself had his own brain waves measured,
and Bob's brainwaves turned out during his experiences. He had a reduced amount of alpha in
increased amount of low frequency delta theta waves during his out of body experiences. And
there was a number of researchers that found that the theta window was a very important
window for people having these kinds of experiences. The sleep researchers talked about
going through stages of sleep in stage two, or that boundary area sleep characteristic of
hypnogogic to these kinds of images just before falling to sleep was important. Bob's theory or
concept was down in the Delta arena, that this that what sleep researchers were saying was
unconscious sleep. The Sleep guys were saying, Oh, well, that's Delta, slow wave sleep. And
you're not conscious. Bob always said there's no such thing as not being conscious. You're
just conscious somewhere else. Just because you're not conscious of this place doesn't mean
you're not there. So, my challenge was then we talked about in our literature, this frequency
following response, I measured it, it worked. But will Hemi sync actually change our arousal
levels with binaural beats? Can we actually regulate the brainwave arousal state? Okay? Not
someone's thinking, not someone's personal experience, but just move the arousal state
around to maybe open a window through which they might be able to experience. See if I push
the end button next, okay. As many of you know, our product, our tapes, our experiences are
very complex binaural beats, it isn't just one single tone in it isn't just one single tone all
throughout the tape. As you are guided to relax, it's one set of frequencies. As you are guided
to do this now it's another set of frequencies as you are guided to construct your energy
conversion box, these check these frequency patterns, these binaural beats change depending
upon things that you are trying to do on the tape, very subtle minor changes, many of which
use music theory, you know, changing from major chords, minor chords to seven, back again
for resolves, as well as changing the frequencies of the binaural beats very subtly. So there
are very complex patterns that are happening. Now this is important for me to consider
because of in the frequency following response study, we used pure tones, just single beat
tones, because that's what other studies have done. But if I was going to look into does Hemi
sync really work, I at least had to have some sense of using similar kinds of tones similar
complex patterns here. So this is a picture of the complex tape that I decided to test. Now
there isn't any particular tape we sell doesn't want to focus 10 tape or anything, it's just
complex enough that I knew what was going on in the tape. And I could study it to see if that
was what was going to happen with the people as well. So I know it's with all the bright lights
on it's a little dim, but the red represents Alpha binaural beating on the tape. And the blue
represents Delta binaural beating on the tape. So as time progresses over the 45 minutes, the
amount of beating in the amplitudes of the BD. The next is change. I've got a

point to things important. Now the question comes up the question comes up. How do we
demonstrate? How do you find out? If Hemi sync is working? Well, I know we could create
programs and put new age names on them and run 1000s of people through and then ask
them to raise their hand see if it works work. Okay, so we did that it works. Lots and lots of
people have been through lots and lots of programs. Lots of people have been through the
booth over there where Darlene and I and Bob and Susan are guiding them through their
experiences. And it works. people's consciousness ie their first person experience of reality
changes. They perceive something different than just lying there with headphones on their
perception of reality changes. So we have personal testimony, we have 1000s of people with
personal testimony about their subjective experience their perception of reality.
