[7.5-19.0] We walked outside among the blooming fruit trees and sat on the grass and he kept asking me about my childhood experiences to tell him about my childhood experiences.
[19.0-24.5] And after sharing two or three experiences with him, I began to think in my own mind,
[24.5-34.4] I'm supposed to be asking him questions. I'm here on official business to find out about this Hemi-Sync process and whether it would be of benefit to remote viewers.
[34.4-42.9] And curiously enough, the conversation immediately turned and he said, well let me tell you a little bit about this thing called Hemi-Sync.
[42.9-52.4] And he told me that it was a process of sound that created a rhythmic vibration that had the ability to alter brain waves.
[52.4-60.9] And that while people were under the influence of Hemi-Sync that he could talk to them, speak to them and they would report their experiences.
[60.9-69.4] That sounded very impressive to me. In my own mind I was thinking, oh that would probably be really good for remote viewing.
[69.4-74.4] So quite naively I said, well Mr. Monroe, tell me about how you can do that.
[74.4-80.4] And he said, well we'll just have to show you. And from there we went on into his laboratory.
[80.4-90.5] And in his laboratory we met a receptionist and walked down a hallway where I saw a room with tape recorders and lights and switches in it.
[90.5-97.0] And I thought, oh I'd like to go in there. I'm sort of a gadget kind of a guy. And I thought I'd like to see what that was all about.
[97.0-103.0] But he had a different idea and encouraged me to walk on down the hallway and turn into the next room.
[103.0-109.4] The next room simply had a strange bed that was built back into the wall.
[109.4-113.4] And he told me to lay down in that bed and put on the headphones.
[113.4-119.6] And I was like a little bit concerned because I was there and as a military officer on an official mission.
[119.6-125.1] And I wasn't about to do anything weird. But I asked him what kind of sounds he might play for me.
[125.1-130.1] And he said very casually, oh at first we'll play some music just to relax you.
[130.1-137.1] And that sounded interesting. So I sat on the bed and put the headphones on and then laid down.
[137.1-141.1] Well the minute I laid down the lights in the room went out and the door closed.
[141.1-146.1] And I was a little bit worried because he had said, we'll play music at first.
[146.1-150.2] And what did he mean by at first we'll play some music?
[150.2-156.8] Well, within a few seconds there was some music. So I was encouraged to think that this man was truthful.
[156.8-160.8] He was honest. He said he'd play music. And he did play some music.
[160.8-169.0] And after that the music went away and faded into the sounds of the ocean, surf sounds.
[169.0-173.0] And Bob Monroe came on my headphones and said, and here is the sound of surf.
[173.0-176.5] A symbol of the power of sound here at the Monroe Institute.
[176.5-182.1] And I thought, well that's a commercial announcement obviously. And I recognized that.
[182.1-186.1] And the surf rolled in and rolled out and it made me feel good.
[186.1-190.1] I was raised in California so this reminded me of my own childhood.
[190.1-196.4] And after a while the surf sort of faded away but left a kind of rushing or hissing sound.
[196.4-201.9] And a slow droning sound. A wah, wah, wah.
[201.9-208.3] A droning sound in the background. And I wondered what that was and where that sound was coming from.
[208.3-214.3] And then I began to feel something. A visceral body feeling.
[214.3-220.6] The bed began to rise up to the ceiling and I thought, oh this bed is special.
[220.6-226.6] It's just like when you get your oil changed in the gas station and they raise the car up in the air.
[226.6-231.1] He must be able to raise this bed up in the air in the same way.
[231.1-235.6] And I tried to listen to see if I could hear an air compressor running in the background.
[235.6-239.6] But I couldn't. And I couldn't figure out how they built this bed.
[239.6-244.1] I was quite an analytical kind of person and it was very interesting to me.
[244.1-250.6] I wondered how strong it was. And maybe some day at my house I could get one of these and I could change my own oil in my car.
[250.6-255.1] But this feeling of moving up into the air changed.
[255.1-259.7] And I began to sense lateral movement. A movement sideways.
[259.7-264.7] Much like being in an airplane and the pilot says, it's now time for landing.
[264.7-269.7] Please fasten your seat belts. And you're suddenly aware of the movement of the airplane.
[269.7-273.7] It was that same kind of body sensation of movement.
[273.7-285.1] And accompanying this movement was a visual perspective of huge boulders or crystals passing by me
[285.1-289.6] as though I was moving through a passageway of some kind.
[289.6-294.6] But I had a rather silly thought. I thought, I must be inside of a flavor straw.
[294.6-300.6] I remember as a kid you could drink water or milk through a straw and it would flavor it with sugar crystals.
[300.6-304.6] And I had this silly notion that I was inside of a flavor straw.
[304.6-308.6] And Bob Monroe's voice came over my earphones and said, well, what's happening?
[308.6-314.0] And I said, well, I seem to be going someplace. And he said, well, where you going, kid?
[314.5-318.6] And I said, I don't know. This is your place. I don't know where I'm going.
[318.6-327.6] After a period of time, I came to what I assumed was the end of this passageway or this flavor straw in my thinking.
[327.6-332.6] And I began to poke my head out of the end of the flavor straw.
[332.6-340.2] And my entire perspective changed and I was in a boundless, open white space.
[340.2-344.3] Watching myself come out of the end of this flavor straw.
[344.3-350.0] And it was very meaningful like, wherever you go, there you are.
[350.0-354.5] Which sounds stupid, I know. But at the time in this state of consciousness,
[354.5-359.8] it was, I've come all of this way to find out I'm already here.
[359.8-366.5] And this revelation must have led to some sort of an utterance or, oh, ah.
[366.5-372.5] Because immediately Mr. Monroe's voice was in my headphones saying, well, what happened?
[372.5-378.6] And I had forgotten all about Mr. Monroe. I was so embarrassed.
[378.6-383.1] I was so involved in this journey that I'd forgotten all about him.
[383.1-390.1] And in my embarrassment, in my frustration, I just said, oh, well, I'll just have to tell you about this later.
[390.1-393.8] This is, it's okay. I'll tell you later.
[393.8-402.9] Well, he left me in this white space for, I don't know how long, some length of time.
[402.9-407.9] I think something must have happened to me there, but I can't remember what it was.
[407.9-412.4] The next thing I remember him saying was, it's time for lunch.
[412.4-417.2] And I thought about that and I thought about that.
[417.2-420.2] I had no idea what lunch was.
[420.2-424.7] And wherever I was in this white space, they don't do lunch there.
[424.7-431.8] It didn't make much sense, but that didn't seem to matter because he changed the sounds I was listening to.
[431.8-436.1] He lowered the bed back down to the floor again.
[436.1-443.6] And before I knew it, he came through the door and the lights were on and I sat up in bed and I was like,
[443.6-446.1] what in the world has happened?
[446.1-451.9] And I took my headphones off and I leaned down to look under the bed and he said,
[451.9-454.4] what, did you drop your wallet down there or something?
[454.4-457.4] And I said, no, I have my wallet. It's okay.
[457.4-464.7] And I was puzzled and wondering about what had happened to me and what were these sounds.
[464.7-469.7] Well, he was encouraging me to get outside and get out in the sunlight and sort of get grounded,
[469.7-471.8] get back to earth as it were.
[471.8-475.8] And then we went on up to lunch and sitting at lunch,
[475.8-479.8] we had to drive about 45 minutes I guess to get to a place for lunch.
[479.8-486.3] And sitting at lunch, we ordered our meals and then we were waiting for the meals to come.
[486.3-490.3] It's sort of an awkward time when you have to try to make some conversation.
[490.3-496.3] And I very innocently turned to him and said, well, Mr. Monroe, when you raised the bed up,
[496.3-502.3] and he looked at me and said, I didn't raise the bed up and I was thinking about that
[502.3-505.6] and trying to figure out what had happened.
[505.6-514.6] And then I slowly I realized and said, oh, it had taken me about 45 minutes to try to understand,
[514.6-517.6] try to comprehend what had happened to me.
[517.6-520.0] And then I got very excited.
[520.0-524.5] Secretly in the back of my mind, I thought, boy, this would really be good for the remote viewers.
[524.5-531.0] But to him I said, what is the power in those sounds?
[531.0-534.5] How did those sounds make that happen?
[534.5-538.5] And he kept backing away and he said, no, the sounds didn't make that happen.
[538.5-540.5] That was your experience.
[540.5-547.0] The sounds only put you in a state of consciousness that we call body asleep, mind awake.
[547.0-550.9] And what you did in that state of consciousness was up to you.
[550.9-555.9] Well, I didn't know if I believed him so much, but I was very curious about
[555.9-559.2] what is it that makes this Hemi Sync work?
[559.2-562.2] And when I went back to my military superiors at Fort Meade,
[562.2-566.2] I didn't tell them all the things that had happened to me that day.
