[00:16:00] and so on so it was like well this is what I wanted to do this was the plan I was going to go do this and so the phone call Rang before I could leave said uh Lieutenant Atwater yes this is um Captain so and so from Fort me Maryland and I've got a change of orders for you and I said well I have paper orders in my hand and going
[00:16:30] directly to the Pentagon she says no no no no I have orders for you to come here to Fort me Maryland and she said you just drive right to me and I will hand you those orders when you get to Maryland and we'll get you started and I said yes ma'am I I'll do that and I was like guess what guess what I went home and so my wife we don't have to go to the Pentagon we're going to go to me Maryland it's nothing but a big golf
[00:17:00] course it's great they have housing for you and it's a beautiful place to be and when we got there I found out that I was supposed to go to work for a special operations Detachment which was work for very secret information what we call Behind the Green Door um had to have special security clearances and so forth and that was the real beginning I didn't know it at the time but it was real beginning of what mind reach was all
[00:17:30] about because on the drive and the excitement to get a job here at Fort me rather than the Pentagon I'd like all I forgotten about all my aspirations on that and all these things I talked about and all that I was going to do because I'd rather take care of my family and live on that nice place if I remember rightly shortly thereafter a a synchronicity occurred when you were given your first
[00:18:00] desk of your own and I GA a safe along with the desk and there you found secret documents relating to remote viewing that's correct I had um I had to wait a while when I got to see major Keenan who was the boss of this office I was going to go to uh said um we can't have you here Behind the Green Door cuz we haven't got
[00:18:30] all your security clearances straightened out yet and make sure that's all okay and everything so he says just go home and I'll probably call you in a couple weeks and then you can come in and so that happened I think it was three weeks later and all I did was you know play with the kids and find out where everything was in the area and so forth and so on and then he says okay it's time for you to come in now and get read in on and follow all the rules and so forth and so on then he said uh
[00:19:00] you're going to need an office and uh Lieutenant scotsco used to be in that office right down there and that's going to be your office now so I went into Lieutenant Scot's office and it was like you know open the drawers and the desks and pull them out and paper clips and leftover papers and so forth and so on just like you would take regular stuff when you left then I started opening the drawers of the safe behind me um
[00:19:30] and pulled the top door out yeah empty folders used to have stuff in here they're just folders now second drawer third drawer fourth drawer and I pulled the fifth drawer open and he said wait a minute he must have left these in here and I pulled them out and there were three classified documents on remote viewing and I'm like how did this happen how did all cqu cisit Le I went all through all of these loops and wound up in an office that was
[00:20:00] all about remote viewing and I took them into major Keenan and said sir I found these documents in the bottom drawer here are secret documents um what do you want me to do with them and he said what are they about he said oh yeah these are all that remote viewing stuff and what's going on in Russia and everything and I said yes sir that's what I understand too and he says well do you know anything about that and I said well yes sir I do he saidwell Lieutenant you're in charge of it from
[00:20:30] now on and it's like goodness sakes and so I didn't know what that meant but he thought that he had found somebody just because I said I know what this stuff is that he found somebody to be in charge of it because Lieutenant scoto was gone now so so that was at a point in time where the military had intelligence reports
[00:21:00] about Paras pychology at SRI and in Russia but but the military wasn't yet doing anything about it yes since you're saying the word military they weren't doing anything about it you didn't ask about things you can't ask about but the military wasn't doing anything about it I mean it's well known at this point that SRI was being funded by the CIA oh I didn't tell you that no it it was an Open Secret and in fact
[00:21:30] I had my first remote viewing experience at SRI in 1976 oh my goodness even before mind reach came out the the Paras pychology community in the San Francisco Bay Area was very well aware of what was going on and and and we assumed of course that the government had everything under control
[00:22:00] that is an assumption I'll tell you but let's go back a little bit because if I re remember your book correctly while you were in Korea you were stationed in the demilitarized zone and and one of your concerns was that the barracks and other installation American military
[00:22:30] installations might have spying devices bugs and and one of your jobs was to uh search for for any bugs I suppose coming from North Korea and you describe how you would go into a building and go into a a state of consciousness that sort of expanded your mind so you could become aware of things that weren't readily apparent to the senses and this was normal for you but I didn't
[00:23:00] tell anybody about it at the time um I would just sort of scope around and I don't want to get into too much detail but it would be easy to say thing that isn't some spooky or strange thing and just say you know if I were going to put a bugging device here I put it right up there where somebody could find it and I'd put another one over there and
[00:23:30] they would be so happy they found it they were sure it was just fine and then they never did find that one over there so um and it would be sound quite logical to people if I just said if I were to do this it might be there and could could do this and could do that but didn't um tell them I was kind of scoping it out on a different level I imagine it's
[00:24:00] fair to say that not just in the military but in many different professions people who are successful at at what they do seem to have a a six sense or a highly developed in intuitive ability we could say yes that's a very nice safe way to say it a highly developed intuitive ability that's very nice way to say that you probably don't know I used to be the president pres of an organization called the intuition
[00:24:30] Network and many consultants working in business to help enhance and intuitive abilities and and of course intuition is a large subject but at the heart of it really is psychic functioning I think yeah we don't want to say that too loudly so at some point it it dawned on you that if the Soviets in the era of the Soviet
[00:25:00] Union if they were using remote viewing against us targets that we needed to develop some sort of a a defense for that in the chain of things we've been talking about that was another surprise to me because I what I did as a team we would go to different Army installations and inspect them with a
[00:25:30] threat assessment and we would be able to tell them when the Soviet Satellites were flying over and how they were standing on that hill with their binoculars looking at what you were doing and trying to go into the bars and listen to the soldiers talk about something they did that was secret and so we would go and run a inspection for them where we would investigate all these things were they locking their saves they know not to talk on the phone because you can listen in on the phone
[00:26:00] not to talk in public when you left the base walked out you're not supposed to talk about the things you do and so forth and so on and one of the inspections we did was at Redstone Arsenal Alabama which is where they fire all the rockets off and so we didn't want the Soviets with their satellites watching the Rockets um listening to the radio Communications between the Rockets and the ground uh and so we would be
[00:26:30] able to tell them with satran reports between the hours of this and the hours of that don't test your Rockets because they can listen in on you and of course since Redstone Aral Alabama is really close to the Gulf Coast they had ships that would come real close and tune their antennas pointing them right down there and so we told them about that and you can know when those ships are down there and where their antennas are pointing so we're giving him this big lecture at
[00:27:00] the end about all these things that we've checked into and telling us telling the commander because we're doing it as a service to the commander that um we will send you a full report on this and help find solutions for you for the things that we mentioned we'll put that in our report and he said okay fine and you felt kind of a we're getting to the end of our briefing there and then there's a guy that stands up at the
[00:27:30] table and he said yes sir what do you need well I'm the director of soand so and I want to know how to protect myself against this and he slid mind reach across the table to me and I picked up the book and I said yes sir I understand why you be asking this question however we can't answer that for you right now in this briefing it's a highly classified situation and we'll get back to you
[00:28:00] later I made all that up it hadn't even started yet to my knowledge even today 50 years later we don't know how to protect against somebody using remote viewing to intrude on us or spy upon us there are deception methods that you can use U for example if they're looking at a missile silo down underground and so forth and
[00:28:30] so on and you ask somebody to remote view that they have you know the ability to remote view that and saying and study that well on Wednesdays they have three people there but every other Saturday there's only two people there and so forth and so on but if you create a birthday party with balloons and loud music down there while you know they're doing their remote viewing they going to come back and say there's some kind of
[00:29:00] party I don't know this doesn't make any sense this isn't a missile silo there's somebody party down here well you get them then to not trust the perceptions of their remote viewer even though that's really what was happening down there they know they don't do that down there that you're not doing too good today come back next week you know kind of a thing so there are deception methods we can use if you know exactly when they're engaged in remote
[00:29:30] viewing absolutely oh okay well that that's news to me I had never thought of thought of it quite that way but uh eventually these concerns reach higher and higher levels and and you met with generals I think it was General Smith Oh General Smith at Fort me where we were General Smith was the deputy commander and he was in charge of the budget and so when my immediate
[00:30:00] boss major Keenan said how are you going to resolve this program and I said well sir we ought to use our own people here to do these remote viewings to test is there a vulnerability to this unit this specific unit Redstone Arsenal should we need to use our people to do that and would say well why the people out of s they have several people that
