[16.7-23.0] The Monroe Institute is a non-profit research and educational organization devoted to the
[23.0-28.7] exploration of human consciousness. Our premise here at the Monroe Institute is that you are
[28.7-35.6] more than your physical body. What we do at the Institute is we give you tools that help
[35.6-99.2] you find out and know how much more you truly are than your physical body. My father was a
[99.2-106.3] producer of radio shows in New York. He produced over 40 radio shows. He did this in the late
[106.3-114.1] 40s, early 50s. In 1958, he had his first out-of-body experience. Here I was lying in
[114.1-119.5] bed waiting for this vibration to stop so I could go to sleep. That's when I found myself
[119.5-126.7] bumping against the ceiling. Here's this man that's a very successful businessman with
[126.7-132.4] no religious training or spiritual background. He starts having these out-of-body experiences.
[132.4-139.5] He started questioning, why me? Why is this happening to me? He looked to Western science
[139.5-144.9] to give him an answer for that. Because he was a producer of radio shows in New York,
[144.9-151.7] they were experts in sound. He started using sound to help people move into these different
[151.7-158.2] states of consciousness. That's how the HemiSync technology actually came about. Through the
[158.2-162.6] research, we found that the binaural beat is based on the natural functioning of the brain.
[162.6-169.5] It's something that the brain very much resonates with. What we do with this process,
[169.5-174.8] with the technology, we're able to hold you in that particular state.
[174.8-183.9] Bob Monroe experimented more and more with these sound patterns that created a rhythmic vibration
[183.9-189.6] that had the ability to alter brainwaves. While people were under the influence of
[189.6-195.1] HemiSync, he could talk to them, speak to them, and they would report their experiences.
[195.1-204.5] He began to label those particular common areas. He called one area Focus 10. He chose
[204.5-213.0] Focus 12 for another area and Focus 15 for another area. As time went on, people began to explore
[213.0-221.1] differently. These Focus 10 areas, the Focus 12 areas, took on characteristic experiences.
[221.1-229.5] Although they actually represent brainwave states, people commonly report similar experiences.
[232.4-239.4] The research here is to provide programs, better experiences for people. The legacy left by Bob
[239.4-246.8] Monroe, his famous expression, the only way to know is to find out for yourself.
[246.8-259.4] We have means to let people know they are more than their physical body. Knowing you are more
[259.4-265.4] than your physical body is the beginning of knowing that you survived physical death. Knowing
[265.4-310.7] that is a tremendous relief. We have the Gateway, which is our prerequisite for all the other programs,
[310.7-317.7] and where we teach people how to access different states of consciousness and learn various tools to
[317.7-324.7] use that they can bring back into their daily lives and hopefully enhance the way they move
[324.7-329.3] through their days and that they are things that are really helpful in that for them in a very
[329.3-341.0] practical way. When I did my very first program, my Gateway experience, I was able to have an
[341.0-348.5] out-of-body experience. Now some people do, some people don't. I found mine to be an extremely
[348.5-359.4] surprising joy to be able to do. And to have that kind of experience is something that most
[359.5-364.7] people wouldn't be able to get on their own. People who are interested in that kind of thing,
[364.7-370.0] think a different way than most of the people certainly at my age were. And so I could talk
[370.0-376.9] about a diversity of subjects, which I wouldn't be able to with my normal peers. And so I felt it
[376.9-383.6] was kind of an opening, kind of a... I felt good to be able to talk about these things finally with
[383.6-390.8] some people. And so not only in the experiences that the Monterrey's Church gives with the sounds,
[390.8-398.5] but with the people around. And together to have that mix makes it an unforgettable week.
[398.5-405.6] When I walked in the doors, there was this feeling of coming home. And it is wonderful to
[405.6-414.6] find an American family that speak the same language, not only in words, but also spiritually
[414.6-421.9] and emotionally. Guidelines is often a next natural step for people after Gateway because
[421.9-428.7] they get to reinforce some of the learning that they've done during the Gateway and really be in
[428.7-439.1] a place where they can strengthen or become more sensitized to or more aware of that larger
[439.1-445.2] aspect of themselves. During the guidelines program, one of the first nights I had a very,
[445.2-451.4] very powerful dream in which I appeared. I felt that I was the child my mother had been. And
[451.6-459.8] this very traumatic experience happened. It awakened me with a shock. And I realized that a part of her
[459.8-466.2] had been so damaged that the rest of her whole life was affected by it. At that point, then I
[466.2-473.7] decided that my next step would be to come back to Lifeline. Lifeline is a program that is about
[473.7-480.4] service. And it goes beyond the focus levels and goes into those areas where that Bob Monroe
[480.5-487.4] visited that were beyond this physical. And often what he felt was that he was touching into
[487.4-492.2] places that people may go once they've left the physical and made their physical transitions.
[492.2-503.3] Lifeline graduates are then eligible to participate in Exploration 27. And how that came about was
[503.3-507.6] Bob Monroe would come in on the last night of the Lifeline program and he'd say, well,
[507.6-511.1] what have you been doing this week? What have you been learning? Because where they get a lot
[511.2-516.5] more information on the bigger picture of why they're here and their purpose in this life.
[516.5-525.2] Over the 18 years that I've been training here, I've often seen people experience truly
[525.2-533.1] miraculous physical healings. And more importantly, I've seen people experience shifts in their
[533.1-540.4] consciousness that allow them to make the kinds of changes in their lives to be able to bring
[540.5-547.1] into expression more of the true being who they are. There are other programs. There's
[547.1-554.5] Heartline, for instance, for people who want to bring this kind of exploration sort of takes us
[554.5-559.7] out there. But Heartline helps us bring it in here and ground it here. And so people feel like
[559.7-568.2] they are able to let go of some often most of us have built up in crustaceans and defenses
[568.2-574.1] around our heart to protect us from either real or perceived hurts and fears that we have.
[574.1-579.1] And so some of that program is to let go of the gentle process for letting go of some of
[579.1-582.0] that and to be more open than to love.
[582.0-592.9] Joel and I had an opportunity to meet at a Monroe Institute sponsored event. And I would
[593.0-601.7] say since we've met, being able to have somebody that is on the same path as myself has been
[601.7-609.3] a really good experience. We're able to go to the same focus levels together and reflect
[609.3-617.0] on our experiences. And it has deepened our relationship immensely. And also working with
[617.0-625.0] some of the Heartline tapes together has really helped us open our hearts towards each other.
[625.0-632.1] And then there's MC squared, which stands for manifestation and creation squared, enhanced.
[632.1-637.0] And this is where people, again, it's more about being here in this physical and enhancing
[637.0-643.7] the abilities that everyone has. Other places might call this psychokinesis or PK and developing
[643.7-649.8] those PK skills. And so people work with seeds and they charge water and they see they bend
[649.8-663.7] spoons and have great fun doing that. And a lot of this week is about healing.
[663.7-669.6] My father wrote three books about his experiences, Journeys Out of the Body, Far Journeys,
[669.6-677.2] and Ultimate Journeys. And it shows how he grew on this path of exploration. The Institute
[677.2-683.5] is here because of so many, many people, many housewives, many doctors, many engineers,
[683.5-687.0] all these people. That's why the Institute is here today.
[687.0-694.2] The vision of the Monroe Institute is to be of service to you and to invite you to come
[694.2-700.8] join us and experience for yourself that you truly are more than your physical body. What
[700.8-706.3] we do at the Monroe Institute is we give people the tools to find out for themselves
[706.3-712.9] and they know on a much greater level that we are all interconnected. And when we can
[712.9-721.2] bring that feeling back here in this physical lifetime, then it gives us all a sense of
[721.2-722.9] freedom and joy.
